I've been painting watercolors for about 25 years. As a kid, I was pretty serious about photography and I still am, but some time in the 90's, I started painting and found that it was just the thing for my artistic expression, and I never looked back. My paintings usually start with one of my photos, and I try to emphasize in my painting whatever it was that made me want to shoot it, but I’m impatient with fine detail and try to keep it pretty loose.

I've lived in the San Francisco Bay Area all my life and I’ve always loved being outdoors in nature and done a lot of hiking and backpacking. My choice of subjects reflects that and I do a lot of landscapes, especially of the High Sierra. My painting also reflects my 35 years doing graphic design and prepress work in the printing industry where I got lots of experience in analyzing images and graphics.

People tell me that I should exhibit and market my work, but as a retired older guy, I'd rather spend my time painting. If anyone is interested in buying my art, we can talk.
